Ambassador Project Showcase
Supported Decision-Making (SDM) Planning
The Oregon state team seeks to inform youth with disabilities, their families, and professionals in their life about alternatives to guardianship and supported decision making. Core to the state’s plan are the following practices:
- Identifying, and/or developing materials on self-determination
- Using a “peer-to-peer” model with youth with disabilities informing other youth.
In addition to their outreach efforts, the state team will also be looking at policy and/or legislative work that prioritizes the exploration of alternatives to guardianships before considering the establishment of a guardianship.
