The Center on Youth Voice, Youth Choice is a resource center for youth with disabilities. We talk about how you can have control over your decisions after you become a legal adult. One of the ways you can do this is by using alternatives to guardianship (A2G).
The Center on Youth Voice, Youth Choice does research, advocacy, and education about alternatives to guardianship. We also support youth with disabilities by talking about alternatives to guardianship and working together.
The Center on Youth Voice, Youth Choice works with youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities, families, supporters, and researchers from a variety of backgrounds. We speak different languages and come from different cultures. We all work together to learn and share information about alternatives to guardianship.
We have a group called an Advisory Board. This group is made up of youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other advocates that help guide us.
On this site, we share information about alternatives to guardianship by telling stories and sharing facts. These stories, facts, and other tools are for many different people who work with youth seeking alternatives to guardianship, including:
- parents
- supporters (like adults in your life that you trust to help you make decisions
- school staff and administrators (like teachers)
- disability advocates
- healthcare providers (like doctors and nurses)
- lawyers
- service providers
The Center on Youth Voice, Youth Choice (CYVYC) is a national youth resource center on alternatives to guardianship.
